The Consul General of the Indonesian Consulate General in Cape Town visited the Tourist Information Center, which is located in the center of Hermanus city. On this occasion, some general description information was obtained as follows:

  • Hermanus is one of the most visited tourist destinations by foreign tourists as a spot for Whale Watching, Shark Cage Diving and other marine tourism activities.
  • At this time, the number of foreign tourists entering Hermanus, South Africa is still very limited, following the discovery of a new variant of Covid 19, Omicron and the ban on flights from several countries to South Africa. However, with the lifting of the ban on flights to South Africa by several countries in Europe and Canada, a wave of tourists began to enter at the end of this December.
  • The crime rate in the city of Hermanus is very low compared to the city of Cape Town. There is a Facebook Page for announcements lost and found for tourists who have lost their belongings. The Security Patrol also regularly monitors destination spots, however, it is advised to always be careful with valuables and not to travel alone, especially at night.
  • Tourists who want to visit Hermanus are advised to have travel insurance. If during a visit there is a medical need, you can directly visit the hospital even though in general the flow of care at the hospital is carried out through the recommendation of a general practitioner (General Practitioner).

The team also tested the application safe travel by carrying out activities check-in and testing the emergency button. However, the telephone number listed on the emergency menu is the office number of the Indonesian Consulate General in Cape Town (only on weekdays) not a hotline number. Therefore, on the representative admin page Safe Travel, The Indonesian Consulate General in Cape Town has requested a change in the number hotline.
