The Government of Japan in Kenya funded a grant amounting to USD104,263 (approximately Ksh.10 Million) for the Project for the Development of Educational Infrastructure at Jubilee Secondary School in December 2017. Jubilee Secondary School, located in Londiani Sub-County, Kericho County, opened in 2014.

The school did not have the permanent facilities like classrooms, laboratory and toilets for both students and teachers since they newly opened. The school could not accommodate students in the area though the adjacent primary school has more than 1,000 pupils’ enrolment. Therefore, the project assisted to construct mainly 5 classrooms, a laboratory and toilets.

Now, the project has completed all the construction. It is expected that the school will increase the enrolment rate and improve the students’ performance through providing a conducive learning environment.

The Government of Japan, through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme, has been providing funding to NGOs, community based organizations, schools and medical institutions to improve the livelihoods of Kenyans at the grass-roots level since 1989.

The handing over ceremony is planned on 3rd April
