The High Commissioner of Canada to Mauritius, Mr Christopher John Cooter, called on the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, this afternoon, in Port Louis.

In a statement, Mr Cooter indicated that discussions with the Minister were excellent and pertained to the strong bilateral relations that both countries share. Areas for further bilateral cooperation such as in education and investment were also discussed.

Furthermore, he highlighted that Canada and Mauritius share many similar values including democracy, human rights and gender equality and are likewise members of many international organisations such as the Commonwealth.

The Canadian High Commissioner emphasised that the meeting also focused on the difficult situation that Europe is currently facing and the need to find a peaceful solution together to end the Ukrainian crisis.
