The Third Human Resource Development Scholarship to Kenya from Japan

JDS programme helps to strengthen capacity of young civil servants in Kenya by providing opportunities for postgraduate study at Japanese universities, thereby enhancing the partnership between Kenya and Japan

Eighteen Kenyan young civil servants are currently studying in Japanese universities and one of them has already returned to Kenya after receiving a MA degree

NAIROBI, Kenya, January 11, 2023/APO Group/ --

On 10th January 2023, H.E. Ambassador OKANIWA Ken and Prof Njuguna NDUNG’U, Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning signed an Exchange of Notes to provide about 243 million Kenyan Shillings for the 2022 Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS). This will be the third time that this scholarship programme has been offered to Kenya, following the 2020 and 2021 JDS.

JDS programme helps to strengthen capacity of young civil servants in Kenya by providing opportunities for postgraduate study at Japanese universities, thereby enhancing the partnership between Kenya and Japan.

Eighteen Kenyan young civil servants are currently studying in Japanese universities and one of them has already returned to Kenya after receiving a MA degree with support from the 2020 and 2021 JDS programme.
