Grant Contract Signing Ceremony of the project for the construction of the only native plant nursery in Praslin, Seychelles: grant of 64,558

The Government of Japan has been providing funds to local non-profit organizations through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) since 1989. This scheme was initiated in the Seychelles in 2015 to support the country’s grassroots projects.

On the 21st of March 2016, H.E. Mr. Tatsushi Terada, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Seychelles attended the Grant Contract Signing Ceremony of the project for the construction of the only native plant nursery in Praslin.

Terrestrial Restoration Action Society, the beneficiary NGO, received a grant of 64,558 US Dollars for the completion of a building that will be used as an office and a seed store and to purchase furniture including equipment.

Ambassador Terada congratulated the organization which is the first ever selected in Seychelles for this grant.  Ambassador Terada noted that, with this new building, the organization, which has already rehabilitated more than 30 hectares of devastated land in Praslin, will be able to upscale its activities.
