Zambia Rugby 2019 League Enters Week Two

All the teams have got a point to prove to there sponsors, fans and the general would-be supporters going into Week Two

We are glad that all the games on the fixture were played, however, the fact that the ladies game didn't take off is still an area of concern

LUSAKA, Zambia, April 1, 2019/APO Group/ --

After a seemingly one sided Week One encounter which recorded "Cricket Scorelines" in the Zambian Rugby League (www.ZRU.rugby) for games played on Saturday 30th March across the country, week 2 promises a thriller of encounters.

Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) President Gen Clement Sinkamba expressed delight that all fixtures were fulfilled except the Women's Games which was to see Mufulira Leopardess hosting Green Eagles from Kabwe at the Cage.

"We are glad that all the games on the fixture were played, however, the fact that the ladies game didn't take off is still an area of concern. As an Executive we are keen and determined to grow the game of Zambian Rugby on all fronts, that is, Age Grade Schools Rugby, Community & Tertiary Rugby, Girls & Women's Rugby and obviously Men's Rugby across the country" he said.

ZRU Spokesman Tom Chaloba reiterated the Union's desire to ensure a smooth, enjoyable, entertaining and marketable game is displayed at all venues where the game is played.

"All the teams have got a point to prove to there sponsors, fans and the general would-be supporters going into Week Two. Obviously, those who lost are looking at recording their first victories whilst those with wins from Week One are looking to maintain their winning records. This combination is good for the growth of our game as it brings about competition which results in hard work, focus, discipline, unity of purpose which later becomes an essential asset at National Team levels" Chaloba said.

He further added that some of the games to look out for are as below;

1. Ndola vs Diggers in Ndola

2. Nchanga vs Red Arrows in Chingola

3. Mufulira Hunters vs Buffaloes at the Cage

4. Nkwazi vs Green Eagles in Lusaka

5. Konkola vs Mufulira Leopards in Chililabombwe

6. Lusaka vs Chibuluma in Lusaka

7. KPF vs Kansanshi in Kitwe

8. Arrows vs Eagles (Women) in Lusaka

9. Roan on Bye
