South Africa: Higher Education and Training Committee Calls for Written Comments on the Nqf Amendment Bill [B20-2018]

PRETORIA, South Africa, August 20, 2018/APO Group/ --

The Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training has called on interested organisations and members of the public to submit written comments on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Amendment Bill [B20-2018], by no later than 28 August 2018.

The Bill seeks to amend the NQF Act, 2008, so as to: amend and insert certain definitions; provide for the verification of all qualifications or part-qualifications by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA); provide for the formulation of criteria for evaluating foreign qualifications; and provide for the establishment and maintenance of separate registers of misrepresented of fraudulent qualifications.

Furthermore, it will provide for a separate register for professional designations; provide for the referral of qualifications or part-qualifications to SAQA for verification and evaluation; provide for offences and penalties that have a bearing on fraudulent qualifications; and provide for matters connected therewith.
