The Secretary-General met today (November 29, 2017) with H.E. Mr. Alassane Dramane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. The Secretary-General and the President exchanged views on the situation in Côte d’Ivoire and the sub-region. The Secretary-General reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations to continue to support Côte d’Ivoire in consolidating peace and inclusive and sustainable development in the country. He also expressed appreciation for the very important role of Côte d’Ivoire in the region and strong interest in an enhanced cooperation in the context of Côte d’Ivoire’s accession to the Security Council.
