On June 13, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov spoke by telephone with Vice Chairman of the Presidential Council and Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya Ahmed Maiteeq, at the latter's request.

The sides discussed at length the current state of and future prospects for Russian-Libyan relations. The Russian side reiterated its willingness to continue contacts with representatives of all major political forces, tribal groups and regions of Libya for the sake of effective assistance in the promotion of national reconciliation and ensuring conditions for the sustainable development of Libya as a united, sovereign and independent state.
