Parliament Wishes South Africans a Blessed Christmas

Christmas is a period of spiritual reflection on the critical values and beliefs of the Christian faith

May all Christians allow His love to flow out and touch all their relationships with others

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, December 24, 2021/APO Group/ --

The Presiding Officers of Parliament, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Mr Amos Masondo, wish all Christians a warm, peaceful and blessed Christmas.

Christmas is a period of spiritual reflection on the critical values and beliefs of the Christian faith. It is among the key festivities on the Christian calendar, and believers commemorate the event with collective worship time, extending hands of kindness, caring for the less fortunate and goodwill among others following the purpose of God - as a way of marking the birth of the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The Presiding Officers call on all South Africans to make use of this time to emulate the love of Christ, that in all we do, we are to display His everlasting love. May all Christians allow His love to flow out and touch all their relationships with others, the Presiding Officers said.

The Presiding Officers further calls on those travelling to different destinations to spend time with loved ones to be careful on the roads, exercise necessary caution, patience and strictly adhere to all the rules of the road.

We express words of gratitude to all those who will be on duty, providing essential services around the country.
We wish them strength and courage as they continue serving and saving people’s lives.

Merry Christmas and a Blessed Festive Season, South Africa.
