World Health Organization (WHO) strongly condemns the double car bombing in Al-Salmani district in Benghazi on 23 January 2018 which killed and injured scores of civilians. WHO extends its condolences to the victims' families and renews its humanitarian commitment to support Libyans throughout the country.
 

WHO staff and focal points arrived at the venue shortly after the deadly attack and started to provide support to Health authorities in Benghazi involved in treating the injured.

In December 2017, WHO provided 60 Basic Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHK), six supplementary IEHKs along with nine Trauma kit Type B to Al-Jalaa Hospital and four Trauma kits Type B to the Benghazi Medical Centre. Each IEHK serves 10,000 people for three months and each trauma kit is designed to treat 100 moderate to severe trauma cases.

The World Health Organization stresses that it is closely following up the humanitarian situation with the local health authorities and stands ready to provide more support when required.
