As part of the 6th Edition of the Open Day on the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSC) 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security, a Joint press conference on the UNSC Resolution 1325 will be organized at Hotel Ngor Diarama

The United Nations Security Council resolution 1325 specifically addresses women's participation in conflicts prevention, peacemaking and peacebuilding processes, while calling on all stakeholders to pay special attention to women especially in times of conflict.

The Open Day “Women, Peace and Security” is organized by UNOWA in coordination with peacekeeping missions of the region, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and UN WOMEN.  It will gather West Africa women leaders, members of the civil society, academics, as well as representatives of sub-regional organizations and UN agencies who will discuss the final assessment report of the implementation of the ECOWAS action plan regarding the resolution 1325 (2000) and subsequent.

Mr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for West Africa and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) will chair on 3 November 2015 the 6th edition of the Open Day on the United Nations Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security.
