High Commissioner Morel represents Seychelles at the SADC Extraordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government

The Summit was officially opened and chaired by His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, in his capacity as the Chairperson of SADC

High Commissioner Morel attended the Summit on behalf of President Ramkalawan, which concluded on Wednesday, 12th January 2022

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) convened an extraordinary summit meeting this week in Lilongwe to discuss the organization’s efforts and deployment in bringing back peace and security in the northern province of Cabo Delgado of Mozambique. High Commissioner Morel attended the Summit on behalf of President Ramkalawan, which concluded on Wednesday, 12th January 2022.

The Summit was officially opened and chaired by His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, in his capacity as the Chairperson of SADC, and was attended by the heads of state and high ranking government officials of the SADC members. The meeting considered the latest reports on the evolution of the situation in the province and acknowledged that the SADC Mission in Mozambique had made considerable progress in combating acts of terrorism and extreme violence. The mission’s mandate has been extended for a further three months.
