European Parliament President Antonio Tajani on official visit to Tunisia on 30 and 31 October 2017

Tunisia is a young democracy, a friend and a key partner of the European Union

BRUSSELS, Belgium, October 27, 2017/APO Group/ --

European Parliament President, Antonio Tajani, will pay an official visit to Tunisia from 30 to 31 October 2017.

Ahead of the trip, the President declared:

“Tunisia is a young democracy, a friend and a key partner of the European Union. We face common challenges requiring a joint response: stability in the Mediterranean and in Africa, the fight against terrorism and radicalisation, the management of migration flows and youth unemployment. This is my first visit outside Europe as President of the European Parliament. This in itself is testimony to our determination to strengthen relations with Tunisia, to support its efforts in the consolidation of democratic institutions and to open the future to new generations. In the context of this partnership, we must further our collaboration, including for enhanced border control and in the fight against illegal migration which remains at the top of our citizens' concerns.”
