Agenda highlights

The Association Council will review the state of EU-Egypt bilateral relations.

It will be chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini. Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will lead the Egyptian delegation.

The Association Council will take stock of progress in the implementation of the EU-Egypt partnership priorities for 2017-2020.

The Association Council will discuss the modernisation of the Egyptian economy and ongoing economic reforms. It will also focus on trade and on social development.

Both sides will also discuss energy security, environment and climate change.

They will also discuss ways to enhance stability and security, including through a modern and democratic state and promotion of human rights.

In addition, the Association Council will address counterterrorism and security, as well as migration issues.

Federica Mogherini and Sameh Hassan Shoukry will have a political dialogue on global and regional issues, including the situation in Libya, in Syria and the Middle-East peace process.
