When? – The event will start at 10am on Thursday, 8 February 2018. Where? – Ladi Kwali Congress Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Ladi Kwali Way Abuja, FCT. Who? – The Honourable Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, and the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Edward Kallon, will speak at the event. Why? – The humanitarian crisis in Nigeria’s north-east, that has spilled over into the Lake Chad region, is one of the most severe in the world today, with 7.7 million people in need of humanitarian assistance in 2018 in the worst-affected states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY), and 6.1 million targeted for humanitarian assistance. The 2018 Humanitarian Response Plan outlines the strategy that will be implemented this year by the United Nations and partners, in cooperation with the Government of Nigeria, to provide aid to those who are most in need. The 2018 Humanitarian Response Plan appeals for over $1 billion. Questions will be fielded from participating reporters. Media participants are expected to arrive and be seated not later than 9:45am.
