The Administration of the Central region conducted annual meeting on 5 and 6 January assessing the implementation and progress of 2021 development programs and discussed on the 2022 action plan.

In an opening speech, Mr. Zeret Teweldeberhan, Managing Director of the Central Region indicating that the meeting was held with limited participation respecting the guidelines issued to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic called on the participants to exert strong effort in the fight against the pandemic in their respective tasks and administrations.

According to an activity report presented, the administration assessed that successful activities were conducted in the preservation and renovation of religious and historical sites, on researching and identification of infrastructures to be renovated and constructed, as well as on the supervision of the quality and implementation of development programs.

Furthermore, strong effort was exerted in the eradication of harmful practices, renovation and installation of potable water and electricity supply stations, as well as in the fight against COVID-19. However, more needs to be done in the alleviation of constraints being encountered in the education sector, the administration assessed.

The participants conducted extensive discussion on the report presented and adopted various recommendations including alleviation of challenges encountered in health facilities, introduction of strict measures in the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as alleviation of transportation in rural areas.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Governor of the Central Region, Mr. Fessehaye Haile called on administrators to strengthen participation in increasing regional revenue, undertaking strict COVID-19 preventive measures, as well as strengthening forestation programs.
