The Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, held a bilateral meeting on July 7, 2022, with the South African Minister for Foreign Affairs, G.N.M. Pandor, who is in Bali to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting on July 7-8, 2022. 

Both Ministers welcomed the 115% increase in bilateral trade, which in 2021 reached USD 2.8 billion compared to  USD 1.3 billion in 2020. The two countries agreed to further increase the volume of bilateral trade. 

In addition, both Ministers also welcomed the completion of the discussion of the MoU on cooperation in the defense and fisheries sector, which will be signed shortly.

The two Ministers also agreed to intensify cooperation in the health sector.

In the context of multilateral cooperation, the Indonesian and South African Ministers agreed that the voices of developing countries could be heard more on various international issues, which can be achieved by, among others, through the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) forum.

​The South African Minister for Foreign Affairs expressed her appreciation for Indonesia as the G20 President that supports the developing countries, as seen from the invitation to the African Union and representatives from developing countries to various G20 meetings.
