In addition to featuring two live games per week in primetime for the rest of the 2018-19 season, including the Playoffs, Conference Finals and The Finals, the NBA Africa YouTube channel (https:\/\/bit.ly\/2Y9m0fa) will celebrate the impact of African players in the NBA.&nbsp; The channel will also showcase the league&rsquo;s long history of growing basketball at all levels across the continent and using the game as a platform to inspire and empower African youth.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>The first two live game broadcasts on the new NBA Africa YouTube channel will take place on Sunday, March 24 and will feature the Charlotte Hornets hosting the Boston Celtics at 12:00am (CAT) followed by the L.A. Monday 13th May, 2019, some young ruggers from the DieHardRugby Academy in Kabwe have taken it upon themselves to make a difference in their society. The young players have since early 2018 been volunteering for bi-monthly clean ups at a local community centre named Caleb Centre for Children with Autism.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>The Centre which is located on the boundaries of the now defunct Broken Hill Mines caters for kids with various challenges which range from physical, mental, academic, etc has brought the issues of autism to the fore. Centre Director Nellie Tembo-Luulu, (whose son the Centre is named after) has had first hand experience of the challenges faced by parents with Autistic Children.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>&quot;For a long time having a child with different abilities than others was considered abnormal in our society, most people would associate such with curses and witchcraft, there by shunning those affected. However, after thorough research and consultations, I took it upon myself (with encouragement and support from friends and colleagues) to embark on this crusade aimed at helping change the mindset of society. In a nutshell, that&#39;s the genesis of the centre&quot; she said.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>After finishing the clean up exercise, DieHardRugby Academy Founder Tom Chaloba had this to say. &quot;It is always a pleasure to work with you and your organization because firstly, we both deal with children. Secondly, it is good for the Academy players to realize that inspite of their backgrounds and challenges back home, we all have something to give back to others&quot;<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>&quot;As you may be aware, most of our players come from disadvantaged Communities back we are hopeful that we can transform their lives using sport, rugby in particular. Specifically, the program&rsquo;s activities will be implemented in Botswana, Burundi, Chad, Comoros, C&ocirc;te d&rsquo;Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n<p>The activities funded by We-Fi will be aligned with AFAWA&rsquo;s three-pronged approach to holistically addressing the $42 billion financing gap between women and male entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n<p>The first AFAWA pillar aims to increase access to finance for women through innovative and tailored financial instruments, including guarantee mechanisms to back up women entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>In collaboration with strategic partners, the second pillar focuses on providing capacity-building services to women entrepreneurs, including access to mentoring and entrepreneurship training courses. AFAWA also helps financial institutions address the specific needs of women-owned\/led businesses through tailored financial and non-financial products.<\/p>\n\n<p>The third pillar concentrates on improving the business environment for women by engaging in policy dialogue with central banks and other relevant authorities and stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n<p>Lastly, the We-Fi funding will reinforce initiatives of the Bank and partners, such as UN Women and CARE International, in favor of women entrepreneurs in various sectors that are frequently overlooked by traditional financiers, donors and governments.
