World Food Day Commemoration

This year, World Food Day will be commemorated under the theme, “Climate is changing, food and agriculture must too”

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, October 12, 2016/APO/ --

As part of the food security month activities, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF), together with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), will commemorate World Food Day on 14 October 2016 at Nkume Sports Field in uMlalazi Local Municipality in Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal.

World Food Day is commemorated annually around the world on 16 October, in honour of the founding date of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. This year, World Food Day will be commemorated under the theme, “Climate is changing, food and agriculture must too”.

Members of the media are invited to the event scheduled as follows:

Programme of the day:

·         07:30-08:30 - Project visits
·         09:30-10:30 -  Household  visits
·         11:00-11:20 - Symbolic walk against hunger
