TICADVI official side-event on the Japan-France partnership for Africa

TICADVI official side-event on the Japan-France partnership for Africa was co-organized by Japan and France at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) in Nairobi City

This is the first time in its 23 years history that Japan and France co-organized an official side-event in TICAD

TOKYO, Japan, August 29, 2016/APO/ --

1.On Friday August 26, commencing at 6:00 p.m. (local time) for approximately about for two hours, TICADVI official side-event on the Japan-France partnership for Africa was co-organized by Japan and France at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) in Nairobi City, the capital of the Republic of Kenya. This is the first time in its 23 years history that Japan and France co-organized an official side-event in TICAD. This side-event is based on the which was made public by the heads of state of Japan and France.

2. E. Mr. Shunsuke Takei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs participated in the event as the representative of the Japanese Government and welcomed the advancement of the Japan-France cooperation in Africa in his statement. From the French Government, Mr. André Vallini, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie, attached to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development participated in this event and made a statement. In addition, Mr. Mabri Toikeusse, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Côte d'Ivoire and the representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), French Development Agency (AFD), Japanese and French private sector made the statement or presentation of their activities.

3.Furthermore, there were many participants from the African Government and private companies and they engaged in active discussion. Japan and France has issued a joint press release on this side-event.
