Meeting Wendy: Introducing the new Consul General in Alexandria

Alexandria is a treasure for Egypt and the whole world - rich in entrepreneurs, academic research and creative arts

CAIRO, Egypt, January 25, 2017/APO/ --

Last week, the British Embassy welcomed Wendy Freeman to Alexandria to take up her new role as Consul General. Wendy has a wealth of experience having previously worked at Posts across world, including Beirut, Baghdad and Sana’a, and most recently as Consul General in Munich.

Wendy Freeman said: I’m honoured and excited to have been appointed Her Majesty’s Consul General in Alexandria. Alexandria is a treasure for Egypt and the whole world - rich in entrepreneurs, academic research and creative arts. A strong Alexandria is essential to the stable, prosperous and successful Egypt everyone wants to see. This new chapter in my life is a reflection of Britain’s national development. As Consul General in Munich I worked to strengthen our EU ties. Now as Britain goes global post-Brexit, I am proud to lead the work to deepen our partnerships in Alexandria and the Nile Delta and I very much look forward to meeting and working closely with partners to achieve this.

Wendy has joined the team at British Consulate, which acts as a pivotal catalyst in promoting trade and investment between UK and Egypt and works to empower educational institutes including the British Council, and the expansion in jurisdiction.
