The Egyptian Foreign Ministry Launches Campaign for United Nations Day

The UN Day celebration will include a campaign on the Ministry’s official website and social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter in both Arabic and English, where the role of Egypt within the United Nations system, since it was one of the founding Member States and had contributed to drafting its charter in 1945

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today launched a campaign to mark the United Nations Day, which is celebrated on this day every year to commemorate the entry of the Organization's Charter into force in 1945, said Spokesperson of the Ministry Counselor Ahmed Abu Zeid.

The UN Day celebration will include a campaign on the Ministry’s official website and social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter in both Arabic and English, where the role of Egypt within the United Nations system, since it was one of the founding Member States and had contributed to drafting its charter in 1945. Items the online campaign will feature include some of the most important international resolutions issued by the Organization pertinent to Egypt, the country's role in peacekeeping operations, its current non-permanent membership in the Security Council, its efforts to enhance international peace and security, protect the interests of Arab and African countries and fight terrorism.

An article by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry will also be posted in the Ministry’s Blog which will outline Egypt's vision for the United Nations reform process, against the backdrop of the serious challenges facing the international community and reflecting the core values of the Charter of the Organization as well as the evolution of its mechanisms over the past decades that are all aimed at attaining world peace, human rights, sustainable development, peaceful settlement of disputes, and upholding progress of human civilization.
