Rwandan High Commissioner accredited to Seychelles

President Faure congratulated High Commissioner Kayihura on his appointment and wished him the very best for his tenure in office

High Commissioner Kayihura is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

VICTORIA, Seychelles, March 29, 2017/APO/ --

The new High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Seychelles, H.E. Mr Eugene Kayihura, presented his credentials to President Danny Faure at State House this morning.

President Faure congratulated High Commissioner Kayihura on his appointment and wished him the very best for his tenure in office. He said that Seychelles and Rwanda already have excellent relations, and noted that the accreditation of High Commissioner Kayihura marks a new beginning to further consolidate the warm ties between the two countries.

The President and the High Commissioner spoke about key areas of cooperation such as tourism, the promotion of investments and trade, ease of doing business, and institutional reforms.

After the accreditation ceremony, High Commissioner Kayihura told the press corps that Rwanda considers Seychelles a very important strategic partner, consolidated by a long standing relationship based on mutual trust.

“We really want to work closely with the Seychelles, especially in the field of tourism. The discussions that I’ve had with the President and Vice-President were very fruitful and I believe we are going to cover a lot in the future,” said High Commissioner Kayihura.

High Commissioner Kayihura is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Also present at the ceremony this morning was the Foreign Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Claude Morel, Diplomatic Advisor to the President, Ambassador Callixte D’offay, Principal Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Michelle Murray, Chief of Presidential Protocol Affairs, Mrs Jacqueline Moustache-Belle, and Third Secretary and Desk Officer of Rwanda, Mr Marco Larsen.
