Press Conference: Overcoming Desertification and Drought

This week, from 18-20 October 2016, world governments will agree on concrete recommendations for the action to be taken when the Conference of the Parties meets in 2017

The threats of desertification and drought to Kenya are emerging concerns that have ignited policy debate. What’s at stake and what can governments, such as Kenya, and the international community do to arrest desertification and mitigate drought? In an unprecedented development, Parties have rushed to jump-start the related measures agreed under the Sustainable Development Goals, surpassing expectation.

This week, from 18-20 October 2016, world governments will agree on concrete recommendations for the action to be taken when the Conference of the Parties meets in 2017. Prof. Judith Wakhungu and Ms. Monique Barbut will highlight the measures proposed for 2018-2030.
