President Faure sends message of condolence to Germany following passing of former President Dr. Roman Herzog

In his message President Faure described the former German President as a pragmatist who advocated for stringent economic reforms

At this time of national mourning, the Government and the people of the Republic of Seychelles join me in expressing our heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences

VICTORIA, Seychelles, January 11, 2017/APO/ --

Following the passing of Professor Dr. Roman Herzog, Former President of the Federal Republic of Germany, President Danny Faure has expressed his deepest condolences on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Seychelles to Mr. Joachim Gauck, President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In his message President Faure described the former German President as a pragmatist who advocated for stringent economic reforms which steered Germany towards a path of sustainable development which has defined his legacy - one based on courage, will and resolve ultimately achieving great results.  

"At this time of national mourning, the Government and the people of the Republic of Seychelles join me in expressing our heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences to the family of the late President Herzog, to the Government and to the people of the Federal Republic of Germany," said President Faure in concluding his message of condolence.
