His Excellency Mr. Shunsuke Takei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to visit the Kingdom of Morocco, the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Djibouti from May 1 to 6.

In Morocco and Nigeria, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Takei is scheduled to exchange views with key government officials, among others, as the head of the Public and Private Sector Joint Mission for Promoting Trade and Investment in Africa. This will be the tenth mission of its kind, and approximately 50 people are scheduled to participate in the mission from Japan’s business community, relevant government agencies and organizations. This mission is one of the efforts for realizing the investment for the future of Africa, amounting to approx. USD 30 billion under public-private partnership, which Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced at the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) in August 2016. It is hoped that the visit of this mission will expand further the trade and investment between Japan and Africa and promote economic growth for both sides.

In Djibouti, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Takei is scheduled to hold meetings with key government officials to further strengthen the bilateral relations and to visit the facility of the Self Defense Force, which has been conducting Counter-piracy Operations off the coast of Somalia and in the Gulf of Aden since 2009.
