CAPE TOWN, South Africa, January 11, 2017/APO/ --

Government’s back-to-school campaign is in full swing, and Minister of Communications Ms Faith Muthambi will make her second visit to local schools to ensure that learners are given the right tools that will prepare them for success.

This time, she will visit Kabokweni in Mpumalanga on Thursday, the 12th of January, to hand over multi-media centres to six schools in the Ehlanzeni District Municipal area. These centres, valued at R5.4 million, have the capacity to accommodate up to 40 learners per session.

The minister will be accompanied by the MEC of Education in the province, Ms Reginah Mhaule. Minister Muthambi’s visit to Mpumalanga follows her successful first stop in KwaMbonambi, King Cetshwayo District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal, where she handed out bicycles to high school learners in that province.

“The integration of information communication technologies (ICT) in the classroom, curriculum, and school management is key to successful education outcomes. It’s been proven that ICT enhances the performance of learners and is also an effective method of delivering knowledge and skills,” said Muthambi.
