As we approach the first anniversary of the Skhirat agreement on December 17, 2016, Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, called Fayez Serraj, Libyan Prime Minister and President of the Presidency Council, on December 15.

He reaffirmed France’s support for the Government of National Accord and for his efforts to promote reconciliation and security and manage the country’s resources for the benefit of all Libyan people.

The minister also reaffirmed our commitment to supporting the Government of National Accord and the Presidency Council in their efforts to ensure the unity of all Libyan forces under their authority. Libya must return to the path of peace and stability in order to defeat terrorism.

The minister reaffirmed his support for the mediation efforts of Martin Kobler, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General.
