Hackathon « French et Digital innovation »

A competition that seeks to change and modernize the learning of French in Ghana

The winning team will be awarded 3000 GHS, as well as a possibility of developing the app (possible support from Ghanaian/French companies)

As part of the « French Digital June », the Hackathon will be held on Thursday 1st and Friday the 2nd of June at Lucas College.

The « French Digital June » forum will start from the 1st till the 6th of June in Accra. This project co-organized by the French Embassy, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Ghana (CCIFG) and the Alliance Française, will consist of several events devoted to digitization.

The Hackathon is the background event and the educational part. It features a competition that seeks to change and modernize the learning of French in Ghana.

The aim of this contest is to develop a useful product for learners in order to promote a more dynamic image of French. It also seeks to sensitize teachers on this digital tool and on diverse teaching practices.

At the end of the competition, a PowerPoint slide of the application would be presented to the jury. The winning team will be awarded 3000 GHS, as well as a possibility of developing the app (possible support from Ghanaian/French companies).

Program

Day 1:

Thursday the 1st of June 8h/8:30 AM: Arrival of candidates, welcome snacks

9:00 AM (prompt): Official opening of Hackathon

  • Welcome address by Mr. Toufic TASSO, Head of Lucas College 
  • Short message by Mr. Joshua Mallet, Head of CENDLOS, Centre for national distance learning and open space schooling, Ministry of Education
  • Short message by Mr. Nelson AMO, CEO Innohub Limited
  • Message and official launch of the competition by His Excellency Mr. François PUJOLAS, Ambassador of France to Ghana

9:30 AM: Presentation of the competition by Caroline Delassade and Julie Fournier Organization, available resources, expected outcomes, criteria for PPT presentations and assessment, etc.
10 AM Start of the competition Introduction of participants and ideas; constitution of teams Team work: brainstorming, objectives and projects 
6PM: Close of day

Day 2:

Friday the 2nd of June 8am to 1pm: Team work 
2pm: Presentation and defense before the jury
3.30 pm: Discussions (Jury)  
Tuesday 6th June: Award ceremony. Results to be announced at Alliance Française Accra, 6.30pm
Prizes: 3000 GHS for the winning team & possibility of developing the app (if support from Ghanaian/French companies); French class/Cultural Pass.
