German Ambassador Invites Ministry’s Director for Local Government to Germany

WINDHOEK, Namibia, April 27, 2016/APO (African Press Organization)/ --

Mr. Lameck David Uyepa, Director for Regional, Local Government and Traditional Authorities Co-ordination at the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development has been invited to participate in a group visit to Germany themed “Bauhaus – Laboratory of Modern Urbanity and Urbanisation in Germany” from 5 till 11 June, 2016, as part of the Visitors Programme of the German Federal Government.

Together with journalists, representatives from the planning authorities at municipal, regional and national level and ministerial staff from around the world, Mr. Uyepa will have the opportunity to familiarise himself with sustainable and energy-efficient planning and building in Germany. The programme includes a visit to the world-famous Bauhaus and the Federal Environment Agency in Dessau, talks on the political framework (e.g. Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, German Institute for Urban Studies), German Energy Agency (dena) and practice-oriented research (e.g. EUREF campus, innovation network Morgenstadt – City Insights of the Fraunhofer Institute), possibly a visit to the Center for Art and Urbanistics ZK/U in Berlin and the presentation of model projects and examples of innovative solutions in the field of energy-efficient construction in Berlin (e.g. Energy-Plus House) and Essen (e.g. Essen city administration, winner of European Green Capital Award for 2017).

On 26 April 2016, Ambassador Christian Schlaga presented Mr. Uyepa with his letter of invitation at the embassy.
