Five Business Delegations From Germany In Namibia This Year

By organising these visits, the German Embassy supports the Government’s Growth at Home Strategy and the President’s Harambee Prosperity Plan

German companies can contribute significantly to mineral beneficiation and a modern, reliable infrastructure in Namibia

WINDHOEK, Namibia, November 23, 2016/APO/ --

On 21 and 22 November, 2016, a 15-member business delegation from Germany representing nine companies from the mining and infrastructure sectors visited Namibia, accompanied by Mr. Ullrich Kinne, Commercial Counsellor at the German Embassy, to explore business opportunities. This was the fifth German business delegation to Namibia this year. 

The delegation was headed by Ms. Gisela Will from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and facilitated by the Southern African – German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The following companies were represented: K-UTEC AG Salt Technologies, Actemium Fördertechnik Rheinland GmbH, Höft GmbH, Intectus GmbH, Haver & Boecker OHG, Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH, NAUE GmbH & Co. KG, voestalpine Böhler Welding Germany GmbH, GP Papenburg Maschinenbau GmbH. 

On Monday, 21 November, 2016, the delegation was in Windhoek. There it attended a roundtable with representatives of the Namibia Investment Centre, the Chamber of Mines and the Ministry of Works and Transport, followed by a meeting with Lithon Project Consultants (Pty) Ltd. 

On Tuesday, 22 November, 2016, the delegation travelled to Walvis Bay. There it visited and had meetings with Walvis Bay Salt Holdings, the Namibian Uranium Association and Namport. 

 A 16-member strong business delegation from Germany visited Namibia from 13 - 15 April, led by the German-African Business Association (Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft). From 5 - 9 September, a 13-member strong delegation from the renewable energy sector visited Windhoek, followed by a 17-member delegation from the German State of Rheinland-Pfalz,  26 - 30 October, 2016. From 8 - 10 November 2016, Hon. Wolfgang Tiefensee, Minister of Economy, Science and Digital Society of the State of Thuringia, was in Namibia for the “Invest in Namibia” Conference, accompanied by a large business delegation. Altogether 45 representatives of German companies attended the conference.
